We are writing to share some important news regarding significant changes to our staff. As many of you know, before launching our Eastside Parish four years ago, Ashley Mathews served as Trinity’s Education Pastor. She stepped away from that role in order to lead the Eastside, which has resulted in the birth of a flourishing and increasingly distinct community. We are all so proud and thankful for what the Lord has done and is continuing to do on the Eastside. Ashley has for some time, however, sensed that her longterm trajectory would likely lead her back into the area of education at Trinity in order to continue the work began four years ago.
We believe that this sense of calling has been confirmed with the arrival of Matthew Browne, who has been serving on the Eastside as our Church Planter in Residence for the last several months. After a season of discernment, Matthew concluded that God was calling him to move into the role of Eastside Parish Pastor. Matthew will be officially stepping into the role as Ashley takes her maternity leave in May. This shift obviously affects Tripp Prince, our current Education Pastor, as well. Upon Ashley’s return from maternity leave in late summer, she will officially assume the role of Education Pastor. In keeping with Trinity’s commitment to church planting and acknowledging Tripp’s own calling, he will then shift into the role of Church Planter in Residence.
We are holding upcoming Special Meetings, on both the Eastside and Westside, in order to give space to sharing this story in greater detail and to further address the implications of each of these transitions. Our commitment to our membership has always been to be as open and transparent as possible when it comes to important changes affecting the life of our church, and we have called these meetings in honor of that commitment.
The Eastside Special Meeting will be taking place tomorrow night, on Wednesday, January 31st. Given our space limitations in that building, we are asking that this meeting be reserved for our Eastside community only. Please note that there will be no childcare provided. Following the Eastside meeting, there will be a Special Members Meeting on the Westside on Monday, February 5th at 7pm. This meeting is for all those in our membership community, particularly our Westside members, who are not able to attend the meeting on the Eastside. If you plan to attend and are a parent, please register for childcare by the end of the day on Thursday.
We acknowledge that this news no doubt comes as a surprise to many, particularly to those of you in our Eastside Parish, and yet we want to assure you that we have every confidence that this story is one of God’s providence and faithful provision. We look forward to being together and sharing more of this story with you at the upcoming meetings.
