When we serve communion, we are participating in a tangible and sacred act of worship that flows directly from the words and work of Jesus.

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. Corinthians 10:16-17

In a real and spiritual sense, we participate in the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.  When God’s people come forward to receive the spiritual food and drink of new and unending life, it is a beautiful picture of our oneness in Christ. We come forward as many, yet as we partake of the one true Bread of Life, we become one body, the Body of Christ.
