Trip applications are due Sunday, February 7. The trip will take place May 8-15.

As with everything this past year, we would invite those of you who apply to hold plans loosely. We are keeping a close eye on Covid and consulting our medical team as we make decisions for this trip! We feel confident now to plan for heading to the D.R. on May 8th, but we will continue to assess as we get closer.

We are excited to offer an opportunity for the Trinity community to engage the people of the Dominican Republic – a nation with a rich history but one also filled with violence, tyranny, and oppressive poverty for many. The Dominican Republic is located in the Caribbean and shares the eastern half of the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. 

We will be working with Makarios, a ministry located in Montellano, a small town located near Puerta Plata in the northwest coast. Makarios serves the poorest Dominicans – hoping to love, educate and empower particularly the children & families affected by immigration laws that inhibit easy access to educational opportunities.  Makarios is primarily a school – but it also serves as a resource aiming to strengthen families and build up leaders in the neighborhoods where the kids attending the school live. 

Our team will be hosting a retreat for the Makarios staff at a Young Life camp in the Dominican mountain town of Jarabacoa. The team will be serving as the cooking and cleaning staff for the retreat – while also engaging with the Makarios staff and children. The team will also have the opportunity to visit the communities that are served by the ministry as well as engage with the students in the school.  One of the most important ways that Trinity can support any overseas ministry is to provide support to the ministry staff who work each day to come alongside and love, educate and empower the children, men and women in their community.  We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to love on and serve these men & women who give so much of themselves to such a good endeavor. 

Important Dates & Information

• Estimated trip cost - $1350 (could vary based on airfare and final project costs)

• Application Deadline - Sunday, February 7th (you may turn in the application at any time but this has no bearing on the selection process)

Payment & Information Dates

• Application requires a $50 deposit (will be refunded if you aren’t placed on the trip)

• Half-payment due – March 7th

• Final payment & passport copy due – April 4th

Team Selection Process

All applications received by the deadline will be considered. We are looking for a team with a balance of gifting, personality, and experience. The team will be determined by Monday, March 15th and you will be notified via email of the final team.
